President's wife commissions National Model Workplace Nursery School

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has declared her commitment to the Renewed Hope Initiative in championing the rights of women and children in Nigeria.

She made this known at the commissioning of the National Model Workplace Nursery School of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs in Abuja.

Represented by the wife of Vice President Hajiya Nana Shettima, the President’s wife acknowledged the perseverance and dedication of working mothers as an inspiration.

The workplace nursery school, according to the First Lady, “will serve as a foundation for progress and a promising future for our nation towards improved bonding between mothers and their children”.

The school, established in 2001 and serving as a preparatory ground for early childhood care and educational and recreational activities for children, was closed down in June 2011 after the bombing of the police headquarters by Boko Haram insurgents.

The attack affected the building.

Thirteen years later, the facility was renovated by the Ministry of Women Affairs under Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye as Minister.

The commissioned Workplace Nursery School was renamed after the wife of former Head of State, Dr Victoria Gowon.
